Serving Retirees and Pre-Retirees Across Ocean County and the Jersey Shore

Simple strategies built around your goals

Our office is rooted in Waretown, NJ — and our reach extends across the communities where Ocean County families live, work, and retire. For decades, Scott McLean and the McLean Advisory Group team have been part of this region, building retirement plans for real neighbors in real towns.

If you're within driving distance of the Jersey Shore corridor, you're likely in an area we serve regularly.

Communities We Work With

A focused approach to better financial decisions

We work with clients across Ocean County and into Burlington County and South Jersey. Our primary service areas include:

  • Waretown, NJ — our home office and base of operations
  • Barnegat, NJ — a growing retirement community we've served for years
  • Lacey Township / Forked River, NJ — one of our most active local markets
  • Manahawkin, NJ — serving families throughout the Stafford Township area
  • Toms River, NJ — Ocean County's largest community and a core part of our client base
  • Ocean County, NJ — broadly, including the barrier island communities and surrounding townships

We also work with clients in Burlington County and throughout the broader South Jersey and Jersey Shore corridor. If you're not sure whether we serve your area, reach out — the answer is almost certainly yes.

What "Local" Actually Means for Your Retirement Plan

Structured, transparent, and tailored

Working with a financial advisor who knows this region isn't just convenient — it's strategically relevant. New Jersey's retirement tax landscape, the cost of living along the Shore, and the specific financial concerns of Ocean County retirees all shape how a retirement income plan should be built.

Scott McLean has been advising families in this market since the 1980s. That kind of local continuity means we understand the questions Ocean County pre-retirees are actually asking — and the decisions that tend to go wrong when they're made without a coordinated plan.

We're not a national firm with a satellite office. This is where we live and work, and the people we serve are our neighbors.

Why It Matters

Ocean County, NJ

One of our most active local markets. Lacey Township families make up a significant portion of the households we serve.

Learn Before You Commit — Free Workshops and Resources

One of the ways McLean Advisory Group has stayed connected to this community for decades is through education. We host free retirement planning workshops across Ocean County throughout the year — open to anyone who wants to understand their options before making any decisions.

We also offer Financial Insanity Radio, the Three Blind Mice book, a library of retirement guides, and educational videos — all available without cost or obligation.

To provide you with the best service possible, it is important for us to demonstrate our genuine care and understanding of your needs and aspirations in life. Service FAQs

Quick answers to common questions

  • Do you work with clients outside of Ocean County?

Yes. While Ocean County is our primary market, we work with clients throughout Burlington County and across the broader South Jersey and Jersey Shore region. If you're within a reasonable drive of our Waretown office — or prefer to meet virtually — reach out and we'll find a way to work together.
  • Do I need to come into your office, or can we meet another way?

We offer in-person meetings at our Waretown office, and we can accommodate virtual meetings for clients who prefer that flexibility. Many of our Ocean County clients choose to meet in person, but the approach is always yours to decide.
  • Is McLean Advisory Group a fiduciary?

Yes. We operate as a fiduciary, which means we're legally and ethically obligated to act in your interest — not in the interest of a product or commission. That standard applies to every recommendation we make.
  • How do I get started if I'm not sure whether I'm ready to work with an advisor?

A good first step is attending one of our free retirement planning workshops. They're held regularly across Ocean County and are designed to give you useful information without any pressure to sign on as a client. You can also browse our guides and educational resources at no cost.
